Sean Kearney

I was born in the US to Irish parents and I have lived in Ireland since the age of two. I have dual Irish and US citizenship, as do my brother and sisters. As a family some of us live in the US while some of us maintain full-time residency in Ireland. Over the years I have witnessed firsthand the issues associated with dual citizenship and holding and transferring assets in both the US and Ireland.

As a financial adviser with over 20 years’ experience, I was regularly called upon to assist individuals living abroad with the myriad issues that arise in respect of finances, taxes and estate planning when you have transatlantic assets. Navigating the requirements is difficult and complicated and requires a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience of both systems and cultures.

As word of my expertise spread and more and more clients sought my help with this kind of financial situation, I decided to create a dedicated US presence in addition to my already well-established Irish business.

I am regulated to transact investment business in both Ireland and the US. I am regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland in Ireland and The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the US.

Amvoy Wealth

I established Amvoy Wealth to provide a solution to the particular challenges many of my US and Irish Financial Planning clients, and even my own family were experiencing: navigating the minefield of Financial Planning while living and owning assets across the US and Ireland.

Developing the goals and objectives of your Financial Plan is largely location neutral but the detail of how the plan works in practice is entirely location specific. Tax, Legal and investment considerations depend on where the asset is located or you are resident and often have a massive impact on how the plan works and ultimately your prospects of achieving your financial goals.

With this in mind, I have assembled a team of partners who are experts in Cross Border Tax, Legal and Investment advice. I have full confidence that working with these professionals will allow us to create a plan which will remain effective and achievable whether you return home or remain living abroad, allowing you to relax and enjoy the life in the knowledge that we have identified and addressed every possible future financial outcome for you.

The Story Behind Amvoy Wealth

People have asked…
Where the name “Amvoy Wealth” comes from.

I was inspired by the journey of Annie Moore, a 17-year-old girl from County Cork. On January 1, 1892 she arrived at Ellis Island after a long voyage across the Atlantic.

She was the first immigrant registered at the newly opened immigration centre on Ellis Island and was one of the 17 million Irish that eventually came to America in hopes of creating a better life.

Amvoy is a combination of her initials ‘AM’ and the word ‘voyage.’ It feels like a fitting tribute to the courage and tenacity required to make your way in another country.

Amvoy Wealth is uniquely positioned to help you manage
the impact of having assets on both sides of the Atlantic.
